Last NEWS of the BIKE TRANSALP route 2021
The 2021 route is like a journey into the unknown, a true Transalp adventure. Related to the pandemic, our course director Marc Schneider has made small changes in one or the other place. For example, there is a change of location at stage 4, the finish is now in Pellizzano in Val di Sole instead of Cogolo in Val di Peio, a side valley of Val di Sole. The route remains unchanged in the main. Stage 5 is shortened a little at the start, while the sixth stage ends in the Valle del Chiese not in Baitoni but in Roncone. Accordingly the second part of the sixth stage, as well as the first half of stage 7 was adjusted. Of course, the Tremalzo as a highlight is still in the program. "The overall experience is not affected by the adjustments and still adventurous," says Schneider.
For everyone, who does arrive by plane to the BIKE Transalp, we’ve put together a few tips on how to get from Innsbruck airport to Nauders easily. The cheapest alternative is public transport. From Innsbruck cantral station you can easily get to Landeck-Zams by train and the last part by bus to Nauders. The journey takes about 2:40 hours and costs between 17,- and 25,- Euro. An alternative is the Taxi Airport Transfer Tirol, it is more comfortable but also expensive with above 160,- Euro for 2 persons. Also the Alpstriataxi will take you comfortably to the start of the BIKE Transalp. The more people you get together, the cheaper it will be. A good way to find other participants is to join our Facebook Group and get to meet the other riders.
The entire BIKE Transalp team can hardly wait: Finally again we can cross the Alps with many mountain bikers from all over the world. After the pandemic-related event pause in 2020, the 23rd edition of the legendary MAXXIS BIKE Transalp will take place from 4 to 10 July 2021. In seven stages, over almost 600 kilometres and more than 18,000 metres of altitude, the stage race runs from Nauders in Austria to Riva del Garda in Italy.
Our project management has just returned from the Alps, where they had another intensive exchange with our local partners. The tenor is unanimous: all stage towns are already looking forward to finally host us again and our team is in the starting blocks to offer all participants an unforgettable BIKE Transalp adventure. For the last few months we have been working behind the scenes at full speed to set up a spectacular and at the same time safe event for you. At one point or another we had to make some changes and adjustments to the schedule and the supporting programme, but one thing is for sure: the 2021 route is spectacular, rough, original and more adventurous than ever before and proves that the spirit of discovery in the Alps is far from being a discontinued model.
